More and more frequently, in a personal or work context, I've noticed an emerging lack of etiquette around AI tool usage. I don't care if people use the tools, or if work gets done with or without them. But what I have noticed is a pattern where Bob will use AI to generate something, not verify it (proof read, code review, etc.) and send it to Alice for feedback. Alice then gets to review the AI-generated content, and ask Bob to prompt again.
I'm very much in favor of using all of the tools we have at our disposal, but this particular phenomenon seems to create a cycle where responsibility for quality is shifted away from the person generating the content. Instead of thoughtfully reviewing or refining what the AI produces, there's a tendency to simply pass the output along, expecting others to catch mistakes or request another round of prompting. This not only wastes time but also erodes trust in collaborative work. I think we need to establish some basic etiquette: if you use AI to generate something, you should take ownership of reviewing and improving it before sharing it with others.
